Worcestershire based guitarist and music teacher Mike Smith, created Trower Power, during the summer of 2008 as a tribute to the superb and influential talents of the classic bluesy rock trio, The Robin Trower Band. Mike formed the band with its primary objectives being; too faithfully recreate the raw energy of Trower's live shows, and to ensure that Trower's music was exposed to as wide and varied audience as could possibly be. To date Trower Power represents the UK's only tribute to Robin Trower.

During the early 1970s, British born guitarist Robin Trower, left the security of popular and successful British band Procol Harum in a quest to form a bluesy power trio. To this end, The Robin Trower Band was formed, featuring ex Stone the Crows member James Dewar on bass and vocals, Reg Isidore on Drums and Robin Trower on guitar. The Band quickly established itself as a popular worldwide live act, being often compared to Hendrix with its Univibe drenched overdriven psychedelic sound, and went onto record a series of classic albums including the monumental Bridge of Sighs.

Guitarist Mike Smith, a Trower fan for some 35 years, had the concept of forming a tribute in honour of Trower after having seen him during his 2008 'first farewell tour'. At this point all indications appeared to suggest, that Trower was himself preparing to retire from the rigours and demands of regular live performances. However, to date, Robin Trower has continued to amaze audiences with his relentless touring program and the release of new material.

Mike Smith's vision for his Band was to initially recreate Robin Trower's classic period, which resulted in the subsequent release of his incredible live album, 'Robin Trower Live'. To this end, the bands live set always include such Trower classics as: Day of the Eagle, Bridge of Sighs, Can't Wait Much Longer, Too Rolling Stoned, Daydream, Alethea and A Little bit of Sympathy. However, alongside a comprehensive selection of Trower's earlier material, Trower Power's set also includes selections from his more recent song writing catalogue, in an attempt to ensure that the band offers audiences a detailed selection of all of Trower's discography.
